DESCRIPTION:Another stitch session to contribute towards our ‘Compassionate message to the homeless’ sleeping bag project. \nWe are inviting stitchers\, embroiderers\, and textile makers to take part in Compassionate Message to the Homeless\, a collaborative making project exploring care\, dignity\, and shared humanity. \nParticipants are asked to create a 10 inch textile square using embroidery\, stitching\, applique\, or other handcraft techniques. This can include a short message\, symbol\, pattern\, or purely visual design that expresses kindness\, solidarity\, or presence. Please leave a one inch border on all sides\, as the squares will be joined together to form an oversized sleeping bag. \nThere is no set style or skill level required. Your contribution can be bold or quiet\, detailed or simple. Words are welcome but not essential. Texture\, colour\, and repetition can speak just as clearly. The focus is not on making statements or offering solutions\, but on the act of making itself as a gesture of care. \nMaterials should be durable and considered\, suitable for joining with others. Each square will sit alongside many different voices and approaches\, forming a collective piece built from individual acts of attention. \nBy taking part\, you are contributing time\, thought\, and skill to a shared work that invites reflection and compassion. \nWe need your squares by the 28th of February so we have time to assemble ready for the exhibition ‘Here Without Home’ which starts on 13th of March and ends on 28th of March.

DESCRIPTION:In the heart of Hereford\, at Artlandish\, FLEE explores the realities of loss and belonging. The exhibition considers what it means to be forced from home\, whether through war or domestic abuse\, and how identity can be reshaped in the aftermath of leaving. \nFLEE centres on empathy. It invites visitors to place themselves in the position of those who have fled and to consider how such upheaval might affect their own sense of self\, safety and belonging. At its core is the question: what would you take if you had to leave everything behind? \nThe exhibition reflects the voices of those affected by domestic abuse and those who have needed to flee from war. Though the circumstances differ\, both experiences share the reality of living without the security of home. FLEE asks audiences to consider not only the act of leaving\, but the lasting impact of displacement. \nBy encouraging reflection rather than spectacle\, the exhibition creates space to think more deeply about home\, its fragility\, and what it means to rebuild belonging when it has been lost.

DESCRIPTION:Artlandish are excited to be pairing with the amazing Weirdshire to put on more performance nights in the Project Space at 4\, Gomond street\, Hereford \nFirst gig is the amazing Si Patton and the Retinal Circus on the 11th of February\, doors at 7pm \nWeirdshire says: We’re delighted to have Si come back and play again\, after his storming performance last September at The Victory (which also saw the once and only once performance of the legendary Vibe Destroyer\, for those lucky enough to have been there). \nSi is an academic\, with a fluxus influenced approach to performance\, freely improvising and noise generating on his bass. It’s going to be another great one. \nAnd we’re also really chuffed to be able to bring Retinal Circus to Weirdshire to perform – Craigus has been around the Weirdshire and Unorthodox Paradox scene for a long time. Onetime prolific singer songwriter turned multi instrumentalist composer\, his music in trio\, duo and solo format has been described as “mutant shifting acid fried psych pop”. Retinal Circus will be solo for this performance.

These stories will become inspiration for new creative work that builds empathy\, understanding\, and connection within our wider community. \nWe are looking for people willing to respond with care\, respect\, and imagination. \nHow you can be involved\n\nCreate new work inspired by lived-experience stories\nFacilitate or support creative workshops\nOffer time\, skills\, or practical help as a volunteer\nAttend exhibition\, screening\, or performance\nSupport installation\, documentation\, or outreach\nHelp amplify the project through networks and platforms\n\nWe welcome all art forms\, all levels of experience\, and all backgrounds. What matters most is a willingness to listen\, collaborate\, and contribute to a project grounded in dignity and shared humanity. \nIf you don’t see yourself listed but feel you have something to offer — we want to hear from you. \nHow to get Get involved\n Contact: info@artlandish.co.uk\n Project: Here Without Home\n Organisation: Artlandish – Community Arts for All \nTogether\, we can turn stories into spaces of understanding\, creativity\, and compassion. \nCall out for folks with lived experience. \nHerefordshire Artlandish invites people with lived experience of homelessness to share their stories through art Artlandish\, a voluntary community arts organisation based in Hereford\, is launching a new creative project to shine a light on the real experiences of homelessness in all its forms. \nThe project\, part of the Here Without Home initiative\, aims to collect personal stories and transform them into powerful art of all forms that challenge perceptions\, educate the wider public\, and support meaningful change. \nArtlandish is inviting anyone in the Midlands who has experienced homelessness — whether through sofa-surfing\, rough-sleeping\, a way to escaping trauma or domestic abuse\, mental health challenges\, eviction\, insecure housing\, care leaver experiences\, or difficulties linked with criminal convictions — to come forward and share their story in a way that feels safe for them. \nStories can be submitted anonymously\, including through voice notes\, or shared with contact details if the person would like to be involved more directly. “These stories matter — and art can help people truly hear them” Homelessness is often hidden\, misunderstood\, or oversimplified. Many people move between temporary or unsafe living situations without ever being seen or counted. \nThrough this project\, Artlandish hopes to give space to the lived voices behind the statistics. “Art allows us to feel what someone else has lived\,” said Artlandish. “A painting\, a poem\, a collage\, a sound recording — these can open hearts in ways facts alone can’t. We want to honour the courage\, challenges\, resilience and truths of people who have navigated homelessness in all it forms. \nThese stories deserve to be heard\, shared\, and learned from. Participants can choose to:\n– Tell their story in their own words\n– submit a voice note (anonymous or named)\n– create art themselves\, with optional support from Artlandish artists. \nStories and artworks will contribute to community exhibitions\, performances\, workshops\, and public conversations throughout Herefordshire\, helping people understand the realities of local housing struggles — and why change is urgently needed. A safe\, respectful invitation Artlandish emphasises that sharing is completely voluntary\, and participants can share as much or as little as they’re comfortable with. No personal information is required unless someone wants to be contacted for follow-up. \nAll experiences are welcome. DESCRIPTION:What would you take with you if you had to leave everything behind?\nNot just the objects you own\, but the memories\, the hopes\, the small comforts that make life bearable. \nArtlandish invites artists and non-artists alike to explore this question through art\, music\, film and poetry. \nSuitcases can be; Symbolic vessels that carry what they cannot leave behind\, or what they need to survive. The project is about movement\, choice\, and the intimate reality of leaving. \nIt honours and includes those who have fled war\, abuse\, or unsafe homes — and it asks all of us to imagine what it might mean to step into uncertainty\, carrying only what matters most. \nThese suitcases carry stories in form. Some hold words\, some hold shapes\, some hold the weight of quiet courage. Some are light\, some are impossibly heavy. \nEach suitcase becomes part of a larger installation: a fragile\, temporary neighbourhood of journeys\, a map of resilience\, of departure\, and of hope. \nThis is a space to think\, to imagine\, feel and share — to consider what we carry with us\, and what it means to move forward when home is no longer safe. \nHow to get involved: \nArt \nMake a suitcase or use a small suitcase to fill with evocative objects. Hand made\, or not\, these objects convey a message or perhaps tell a story or express emotion. We can help you do this if you’ve not been in an exhibition before.
