What Is Artlandish?

Artlandish was founded as a pilot project which received funding to run exhibitions, workspaces and activities between 20th January and 30th March 2025.

We held 16 exhibitions in two venues in Hereford (at 7 Gomond Street in Maylords Orchard and Bloom Space in Eign Gate), details of which you can find under the relevant pages on this website.

We had 3,823 visits to the exhibitions, well past our expectations. From the comments made in the Visitors’ Books at the two venues it is clear that the public welcomed the project, finding it uplifting, and making Hereford a more enjoyable and interesting place in which to live or visit. Many expressed the hope that the project would lead to a permanent presence for Artlandish. The project also gained a really positive response from artists, with, probably, over 200 involved in total, who are keen to see it continue, benefitting from the chance to exhibit, to discuss projects, and to meet new folk with whom to collaborate. Many suggestions were also made for what Artlandish, if revived in future, could aim to provide. The project has also received support from Hereford College of Arts.

In April (2025) we first need to produce reports for those who funded the pilot, then a more detailed report which we can use to build a business case for a permanent Artlandish.

IF, and it is a big IF, all goes well, we could be in a position to start again at some point in the Autumn.
